End of Season THANKS and Acknowledgements

We fully realize our record is not in any way indicative of how much we improved as individuals and as a team. No one quit, no one got frustrated and we hope you enjoyed the experience. We can't thank you enough for the hard work, commitment and sacrifice each of you demonstrated throughout the season.

We'd like to acknowledge and thank the following:

Our Player/Coaches: Jeff Feroce, Mark Notz and Mark Brady...thanks for stepping up when asked and for your leadership on and off the field...and special thanks to Jeff for coming out despite his injuries.

Highest Levels of Commitment: Players who took played and took part in all nine games include Tom Collard (attended every game, every practice and played every position including goal and faceoff specialist); Greg Anderson, Jim Pavlik, Mark Sheffield and Larry Simpson.

All-Star Representation: With a season having more lowlights than highlights on the scoreboard, the ONELL All-Star Game is one of best moments of the season seeing Nat Saltonstall, Andrew McIntire and Dave Robson be among the best players on the field...thanks for your awesome play...they didn't acknowledge one, but Nat, you were the game MVP!!!

Getting Between the Pipes: We were honored this year by not just one goalie this year but three outstanding goaltenders. The Goalie is by far the most important position on the field for the skill required, the leadership needed and the guile to stand in against a barrage of shots...thanks to Mark 'Brady' and end of season recruits Trey Crisco and Rob MacMillan.

Offensive Leaders: Yes, we did score more goals than two other teams in the league led by our scoring leader, Mark Notz (8), as well as Nat (5) and Dave (4) with Shaun Stanton (2), and Charlie Van Voorhis (2) with single tallies by Adam Deery, Kirk Franklin, Ted Mocarski, Will Saltonstall and our lone D-pole score, Greg Walker.

"Mudders in the Middle": Ok, we played all but one game on turf but, special thanks and acknowledgment for the boys in the middle who ran their guts out and mudded it out, Mark S, Chris Donley, Chris Baril, Eddie Lee, Greg Murphy, and Tim Reid.

"Most Improved Player" from the Beginning to the End: While not an official designation, it needs to acknowledge the impressive improvement from where he began to where he ended up - Charlie Van Voorhis...you played incredibly down the stretch...more comical moments? seeing the Stragglers #23 trying to cover Charlie when he didn't come up to Charlie's #19...keep up the great work!!!

"The Final Line of Defense": Present company excepted we were fortunate to have a great crew on Defense led by All-Star Alternate Greg A, Dave Barker and Kent Hallamore...it was a pleasure sliding and watching each others' back with you.

"The Master of Stats": We all owe Ben Collard a debt of gratitude for his commitment and 100% attendance in keeping track of the good and the not so good...THANKS BEN!!!

Injured Reserve: The down side of an O40 team is that we're Over 40 and the body doesn't mend or bend like it used to. Unfortunately, we had too many injuries (off season conditioning? work those hammies) that kept a number of guys on the sideline including Steve Keohane, 'Brady', 'Coach Jeff', Greg M, Kirk, Will, Ted and 'Barks'...guys, hope you heal soon!!!

Our Record?: In the final analysis we were undefeated in the camaraderie we developed, the 'family friendly' environment we created at home games and the fun we had playing "the greatest game ever invented"...we were honored to have you on the squad and hope to see in you in 2009.

I'm going through withdrawal. I woke up this past Wednesday and was able to walk.
