On Sunday, August 22nd the 2010 Silver Sachems Player Recognition Awards were presented at the End of Season Celebration held at the Cork Tapas and Wine Bar in New Bedford in an event hosted by Larry Simpson and his wife, Melissa.

The Awards included:

Commitment Awards (Individuals who played in all eight games) - Chris Baril, Alex Cheng, Tom Collard, Brian Crowley, Mark ‘Juice” Giusti, Steve Hooper, and Larry Simpson

All-Stars (Voted On by their Teammates) - Greg Anderson (did not play), Alex Cheng (did not play), Brian Crowley, and Mark "Juice" Giusti. Steve Hooper served as an alternate and Larry Simpson was named League Ambassador representing the South Division in the ONELL All-Star Game held on July 24th.

Community Service Recognition Award - Ron Ferrigno and Mark Gough
Ron Ferrigno and his Daughter rode 170 miles of the Pan Mass Challenge raising monies for the Jimmy Fund in the fight against cancer. The Club has made a modest donation and individual donations all totaling $250.

Mark Gough who was one of 10,000 runners who ran in the 38th Falmouth Road Race. He ran on behalf of Walker, which provides special education and mental health services to children who face challenges that most of us will never have to imagine. Children at Walker typically suffer from serious emotional and behavioral problems, acute learning disabilities, and mental illness. They often arrive at Walker in crisis, frightened, and lonely. Their families are exhausted from a past filled with pain and despair. The Club presented Mark with a check for $50.

Utility Player of the Year Award - John Tatusko
This award is dedicated to the team player that came to every game carrying three sticks ready to play any position asked of him. Whether it was Midfield, Defense or stepping in goal against the #2 ranked Buzzards holding them scoreless in the 4th quarter and just six goals overall he never wavered from the challenge.

Stellar Performance Award - John Decesare
The award recognizes the player on the field who was ultimately responsible for whether an opponent scores or not. It honors a guy who achieved a season save percentage of 86% and whose “stellar play” in goal contributed to first win in Sachems history.

"Silver Sachems" Award - Steve Hooper and Brian Crowley
This award honors not necessarily the best player(s) on the team though he (they) tied for 2nd in total points, but the player(s) who embodies and promotes the character of our team: positive, upbeat attitude on and off the field, demonstrating the commitment and dedication that is an inspiration to us all.

Most Valuable Player Award - Mark “Juice” Giusti
This award acknowledges every measure of what it means to be the team’s most valuable player…from his leadership off the field who recruited several players who now make up an important core of the team; his leadership on the field by contributing team leading 13 goals and 11 assists accounting half of the team’s 59 goals making the Sachems ranked 8th out of 19 teams. Most importantly, the player who selflessly made all the players around him better.
